Why Black Lives Matter Isn’t A Political Statement

It’s not politics anymore, it’s a matter of human rights. “Black Lives Matter” is not a statement singling out a certain group but its a cry for help from our brothers and sisters who have never felt free in this country.

A world where you are designed to fail just because of the color of your skin would infuriate anyone so why not show your frustration and call for anyone to listen?

A Hard Time For Everyone

These are some unprecedented times, a time where everyone is hurt, everyone is experiencing some sort of turmoil and a time where we can’t hide behind masks anymore, even though we wear masks to protect ourselves.

Coming off a pandemic and slowly rebuilding ourselves back to a normal society, we were met with yet another obstacle in 2020, and it’s one that has been boiling for over 400 years.

The Last Straw

For too long, the black people in our country have suffered due to systemic racism, prejudices, and overall ignorance of those who refuse to see the suffering and hurt they have caused through their silence and are now speaking up. No longer will they turn the other cheek and no longer will they be forced to keep quiet and let others step on them just because of a different skin complexion.

Christians forget their sympathy, Law enforcement forgets who they’re supposed to protect, and politicians forget what they’re fighting for, instead, they all point fingers and refuse to change in a time where change is the only way to move forward. For some, they’ve gone their entire lives in their own bubbles and now that reality is kicking in, they lash out and become part of the problem instead of changing it.

It’s no longer okay to just be “not racist” or ignore the problem, we have to come together to banish racism and prejudices and knock down the walls separating us from others, give everyone an equal opportunity to succeed.

Why We March

“Riots are the language of the unheard” Martin Luther King Jr.

When our police averages thousands of killings a year, and unjustly and obvious corruption, we must stand up and fight, fight for our rights and the rights of our future. Show the corrupt and misguided that we will not stand for oppression and injustice.

We fight to make the world a better place, the only ones who should fear us are the oppressors and the corrupt. We do what we can to be heard, we sign petitions, we march for our brothers and sisters, and we donate our time and money to make our community a better place.

Picture this, it’s 40 years in the future and your grandkids are learning about the year 2020. When they ask you what side you were on, what will you respond?

What part of history do you want to be a part of?
